¿Is car hire between individuals new?

It is quite new. In Spain Mambocar is the first company to offer the service, but in the United States, France and England, there have been similar companies for two years.

¿How much money can I earn?

Most users hire their cars for a daily price ranging from 10€ to 75€ depending on the model and the condition of the car. The Owner decides the price of the car hire, and they may change it whenever they wish. For instance, a 5-year-old car in good condition could be offered for 40€ per day.

¿How much should I charge for my car?

This is something you should assess yourself. A price that is too high will result in fewer applications. However, you may change the daily price whenever you wish. Therefore, you can try with different prices and check how many applications you receive. That way, you will find the most appropriate price. Our recommendation is to start with a price ranging between 10€ and 40€ per day depending on the condition of the car and its characteristics.

Does Mambocar charge commission?

No. Mambocar is a free platform for Owners and Drivers, we do not charge any kind of commission. Our income comes from advertising agreements with various companies from the motor industry

When do I receive the money?

Immediately. When you hand over your car, the driver must pay you 100% of the agreed hire price.

Is there a contract?

We have a template available for Owners and Drivers establishing the conditions of the hire, which we recommend that both sign. You may use the template, modify it or use another contract.

Can I hire my car to a stranger?

Mambocar provides you with tools so that you can assess each Driver applying to hire your car. You can exchange messages, request documents (driving licence, passport, etc.) and all the information you need. For instance, you can ask for the applicant’s telephone number and hold a conversation with the Driver who wishes to hire your car. And finally you are the one who decides. You are not obliged. You can choose to entrust your car to reliable people like you.

How can I communicate with the Drivers asking to hire my car?

We recommend you use the Mambocar message platform . This way, both the Owner and the Driver have a record of messages to consult if there is a misunderstanding. Nevertheless, you may establish alternative communication methods such as e-mail or telephone or any other you deem appropriate. Our recommendation is to set the particular conditions of the hire through the Messages section of each user's profile in Mambocar so that you have independent written evidence.

Do I have to accept the hire applications for my car?

No. It is your car and you decide. You may accept those you wish and reject those you wish.

Where will we meet to hand over the keys? And to pick up the car?

Through the messages, telephone or e-mail you may specify the meeting point which is most convenient for both parties. Set the specific date, time and day you deem appropriate to deliver the car and to return it.

Can I request the documents to the Driver?

Yes, and we recommend it. During the hire process we recommend you request a photocopy or scan of the Driver’s passport or Id card and Driving Licence. There you may find out when they obtained their licence and the Driver’s age. Both details are important for some types of insurance policies. The day you meet to hire the car, ask again for them to prove that they are truely who they claim to be.

What happens if an accident occurs?

The insurance covers the car in accordance with the specific conditions of your policy. Most insurance policies cover the occasional loaning of the car to another individual driver, sometimes the only condition is that the new occasional driver has a risk profile which is similar to or lower than your own and is normally assessed according to the age and the number of years they have held their licence. However, we recommend you make a call or contact your insurance company to check the specific details of your policy. What happens if there is damage not covered by the insurance or a breakdown?

You can set a deposit if you wish. The amount of the deposit ranges from 50 € to 300 €, but you may specify the amount you prefer bearing in mind that it will affect the number of applications you receive.

When should my car be available?

Whenever you wish. You can change the availability calendar of your car when you like.

Do I have any obligation if I "stand a driver up"?

You will be expelled from Mambocar. Mambocar is based on reciprocal trust, and this is why we provide you with the communication tools so that you can get to know each other before hiring the car.

Will I be ranked by the drivers who I hire my car to?

Yes. Your manner, respect for the terms agreed to, cleanliness of the car and other details will be part of your profile as an Owner. Users with a good profile may charge more for hiring their cars and make more money.

Do I get to rank the drivers who hire my car?

Yes. Every Driver, member of Mambocar, has a profile where different Owners who have hired a car to them can assess their experience. Better drivers find it easier to find a car and are often able to negotiate better hire conditions.

Is the set price a definitive price?

Each Owner may set their own rules. There are some owners who decide to set a compulsory deposit, some others do not. Other owners are happy to renegotiate the price in accordance with the duration of the hire or in accordance with the good profile of the Driver. Mambocar is only a platform to make contact easy and free both for Drivers and Owners.

Is there a contract between Owner and Driver?

Mambocar provides a contract template, but you may use another template as agreed by the Owner and the Driver, and change the terms as you see fit. However, Mambocar does keep a record of all the messages exchanged through our platform and these can be produced if there is a conflict.
